An important part of the work was the creation of comparable case studies of other ports and harbors, taking into account the respective different framework conditions. For six selected European container ports, port structures, operational processes, infrastructure ownership and management, legal and competitive conditions as well as economic ratios were determined. Effects on quality and economy for operators were presented, recommendations for action were expressed.

Aim
The port company’s goal is to secure and expand its position as the leading container port in Europe. For this purpose, the level of performance is analyzed and compared with that of other ports. The analysis is based on the fact that the operational processes within the port have to be significantly improved for further growth, especially if the modal split is to be increased for the railway. Together with Railistics, the basis was created for this purpose.
